Why I am a Photographer
Hi there! For any of you I haven’t met, I am Elizabeth and I am the owner and photographer behind Elizabeth Nichole Photography. I started shooting when I was 15 years old. My dad bought me a camera and we took a trip to Yosemite together to recreate some of our favorite Ansel Adams photos.
I quickly fell in love with photography and I started taking photography classes in high school. Eventually, I had friends that asked if I would take their graduation photos for them. That’s how I started shooting portrait photography. I absolutely loved it. I started interning with local photographers and I learned so much. I started Elizabeth Nichole Photography as more of a hobby and a way to make a little extra spending money when I was 17 years old. From there, I continued taking photography classes in high school and college. I took a film class and learned how to shoot and develop my own film. To this day, that was one of the most interesting classes I took in school.
Then I decided to go to business school and I fell in love with business. I love the ins and outs of running a business. I actually considered getting a degree in entrepreneurship, but one of my first mentors told me that entrepreneurship is a spirit, it’s something you do, it’s not something you get a degree in. That lead me to marketing. I am good at marketing and I love it so after college, I started to build a career in marketing and I stopped shooting professionally. I still did for family and close friends if requested but I was so busy that it became more and more difficult to make time for it.
During that time building my career, Parker proposed to me. It was the happiest and most exciting time for us. Planning our wedding was pretty easy and I probably had way too much fun with it. But during that time, I fell in love with weddings. Weddings are so thoughtful and beautiful, it’s a reflection of the couple and the life they want to lead together. Shortly after our wedding, I decided to pursue a new career as a wedding and portrait photographer. And here I am today. There are so many more details to this story. Maybe I will share more at another time but for now, that covers it,
